Overcoming Challenges in Active Ageing 2014 | |||||||||
2014-02-28 Our B-Free chair has its very first presence at an International Conference: Overcoming Challenges in Active Ageing 2014. Mrs Carrie Yau, GBS, JP, Executive Director of Vocational Training Council (VTC), has presented a video demonstrating how B-Free chair works in the presence of many distinguished guests and experts all over the world in the field of promoting active ageing. In her excellent speech on Vocational Education and Training for Serving the Elderly, she mentioned: "With the excellent platform in Science Park, Hong Kong is undoubtedly well-placed to carry out applied research. Four years ago, a Hong Kong product designer, came across a report on a paraplegic who locked himself in his unit for 6 years merely because of the 6 steps that he had to overcome before getting out of the building. Aspiring to liberate those who are confined in solitude, this designer has decided to develop a smart chair to increase accessibility for the old, frail or disabled persons and to break their physical, psychological and financial barriers. With the support from government and the technological support from the Incu-Tech Programme of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks, he is diligently trying to create a smart chair. You will see how it works in this video!"
